If you had told me a year ago that I’d be building my own website, I probably would have laughed. I live on TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. Why would I need a website when I already have an audience right there on my phone?
But then something happened that completely changed the way I think about my online presence, and honestly, it changed the way I think about my future.

The Snap Star Wake-Up Call
It started when I was trying to get verified as a Snap Star. I’d been grinding on Snapchat, posting consistently, growing my audience, doing everything I thought I was supposed to do. But when it came time to actually prove my credibility outside of social media, I hit a wall.
I reached out to a bunch of other influencers for advice, and most of them either gave me super vague answers or just straight-up ignored me. Nobody had a clear path to follow. So I did what I always do when I’m stuck: I went to Google and started searching.
That’s when I found Dennis Yu. I think I literally just typed something about getting verified and his name popped up. It was late at night, and I figured why not. I shot him a DM on Instagram. Next thing I know, we’re on a Zoom call and he’s walking me through the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, showing me how the biggest companies in the world use media strategy to stay visible.
The Problem I Didn’t Know I Had
Here’s what hit me hard during that conversation: I had tens of thousands of followers, videos with millions of views, and a real business called Perez Polishing. But if you Googled my name, you’d basically just find my social media profiles. There was nothing tying it all together. No central place that showed who Kyle Abellar is, what he does, and here’s the proof.
Think about it. If a brand wants to work with you, the first thing they do is Google you. If a journalist wants to write about you, they Google you. If a college or a potential business partner wants to learn about you, they Google you. And what were they finding? Just a scattered collection of social media links with no real story connecting them.
Why Social Media Alone Falls Short
Social media is incredibly important and it’s literally how I built everything I have. But platforms come and go. Algorithms change overnight. One day you’re getting pushed to millions of people, the next day your reach drops for no reason and there’s nothing you can do about it.
A website is different. It’s yours. Nobody can change the algorithm on your own domain. Nobody can take it away from you. And most importantly, it gives Google a place to actually understand who you are and what you’re about. That’s what digital authority really comes down to.
What This Site Is For
So that’s why I built kyleabellar.com. This is my digital home base. It’s where I share my story, talk about what I’ve learned as a creator and entrepreneur, and hopefully help other creators avoid the mistakes I made early on.
I want this to be the place where someone can come and actually get to know me beyond the 60-second clips. The car detailing business, the sports, the content creation journey, the lessons I’ve picked up along the way. All of it lives here now.
If you’re a creator and you don’t have your own website yet, I really hope my story makes you reconsider. You don’t need to be a tech genius. You just need to own your name online before someone else does.
This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to share the ride with you.
Are you a creator thinking about building your own site? I’d love to hear what’s holding you back.
